    hi,

I have the same problem, i have a 24" dell widescreen, 6600gt 256mb vid card... although I dont get an error, I boot up, all looks like it is going to start up, then the screen just goes into power save mode, like it couldnt handle the resolution. I can boot up in safe mode and or, use the svga driver and all is well.. I use the real 6600 driver and I get the problem on reboot. I have tried also using the latest nvidia 87.5 driver..... still no go.... the only thing I havent tried is to put my old lcd (non-widescreen) on... I will do this tonight...

Yeah, one thing you can do is go here:

    https://www.vistaforums.com/FORUM/Topic297-10-1.aspx?Update=1

And download that ati vista beta driver and see if that works. Otherwise right click on the desktop and go to settings->advanced -> adapter tab -> proprities - >driver and click on update driver and let windows update search for a driver. Vista has its own driver database for most things and it may find one for your card. I used both methods for my laptop which had a hard time finding a driver for its widescreen 12inch screen.
