    Hi,

My friend is running Vista Home Premium, and has been for several years.
However, she recently complained that certain Windows applications (Explorer, etc) were slow and (in some cases) not working at all.

Not being an expert, I had a quick look and noticed that she was still running Service Pack 1.
So we downloaded SP2, ran it and awaited installation.

All seemed to be fine, until the update had reached 75% and stayed there for a while.
My friend is impatient, and she just turned the monitor off and let the installation continue.
Then my friend's housemate cam home, realised the PC was still turned on and switched it off before the installation was completed.

Now whenever the PC is turned on it goes back to the 75% complete screen and just stays there.
I've tried using the last good configuration to boot, but the a message apepars saying that the Windows Vista product key isn't recognised (Vista came pre-installed on the PC).

Does anyone have any idea what has happened here or how to resolve it?
Or should I just hit it with a hammer?

    Thanks
    Greg
