I have Vista Home Premium with MS Office 2003. When I receive an email with a .doc attachment I cannot open it by clicking on it, like I could in Outlook Express and XP. I get a message to Set Associations. I check Control Panel/Defaults/Set Associations and .doc is called a DOC File and associated with MS Word 2003.

If I save the attachment to desktop, it opens with Word when clicked.

Why can't it be opened in Windows mail. PDF files automatically open.

    Any suggestions????

I wana say its virus protection. Word docs can contain macros which when opened can unleash virus's. They want you to save it so your virus app can scan it??? thats my thought.
