Hey there, i just joined the forum for one reason :x

I was downloading some of my music off limewire with my new vista HP laptop, and you know, limewire automatically shows up pornography files when i search, i accidently clicked one and iits an image file with a very long name (not really)

when i try to delete it , it wont go away, and when i right click, theres not delete or rename option. the images below show everythingg, and im looking everywhere for software that can delete this thing before someone sees... theres no image in it too! look below:

    No Delete or Rename option

    When Its Opened

Please, any suggestions/programs to delete or rename this thing?

When viewed in a program/browser browse.

Well word for future do not trust limewire. Anyways i don't know how you managed to do that. Anyhow you could try a 3rd party data deleter. it's a long process. Companies like Symnatek have that... i think

Have you tried deleting it via a command prompt?

    Incase you dont know..

    Start > CMD

Type CD Des (then press TAB to autocomplete)

    Should put you @ C:\Users\Yourname\Desktop

Type DEL then put the first 3 letters of the filename, and press TAB again to autocomplete. It should put the long filename in. If this is the correct name of the file, press enter. Should Delete it without it going anywhere near the recycle bin.

Ok so at least when from a command prompt windows can see the file. Try one of the file shredders.. see what happens.

    Safe mode maybe?

Kinda running out of ideas here. I generated a long file name .txt file here and my vista deleted it from a command prompt instantly. Have you tried scanning for Virus/Spyware?

I don't suppose you have 'desktop locked' in it's options ?

or go to www.majorgeeks.com amd search for 'unlocker' it's a little utility that adds to the context menu which can unlock a file for deletion regardless of why or what has locked it, I have found it a very useful tool to have.

Im not sure if this is the soultion, basing this on XP if a file is locked, then it still shows in the right-click menu. Try booting in safe mode, if there is a program locking this file then Safe mode may stop the program thats locking it.

Easy answer - Dont use Limewire.

IMHO people that use rubbish P2P software like this, are asking for trouble.

Try Deleting it with Limewire? Apparently that worked... (not being a Limewire user....)
