I'm not a big audio guy or anything. I want to just have one volume control like in XP so that when I put the volume at 0, no sound should come out of the speakers, no matter what applications are running.

How do I disable this sound mixer thing to have just one volume control for everything?

    Thanks.

We're trying to keep related posts together in the same forum, so I'll be moving this to eht Audio and Video forum.

But, on my machine, when you click on the speaker icon in the tray area, you get a mixer with several sliders. When you click on Open Volume Mixer, you can drag all the sliders because they are all linked. I don't know of any way to physically combine all the sliders into one -- which is what I think you want done.
