Hi I have just joined. I have a Vista Business 32 bit running on an old Lenovo apart from running my Quick Books it is the last OS that will run my Nikon 8000 scanner. I have had it reinstalled on a new hard drive from a recovery disk from a previous reinstall in 2012, it has service pack 2 but Windows Update just seems to not connect, forever looking. Is there nothing available anymore, how would I find out if it is fully up to date?
    Thanks in advance.

Not sure as I'm a newbie myself running Vista Ultimate 64 bit. Just installed on a HP G42-475DX and if you take the time to google and you will find youtube info as to use 2008 server updates which run till 2020 and work . It's lots of time but worth it if you surf with the system.

    Hope this helps...

Windows Vista SP2 stopped official support in April 2017, but unofficial post-EOL support continued until January 2020 by installing the updates for Windows Server 2008 - which use the same code.

After doing a clean install of Windows Vista SP2, the Windows Update issue can be resolved by installing specific updates afterwards.
The clean install and update guide and the post-EOL update guide that I've posted in the Windows Vista forums should be helpful to you.
