Vista installation disk not decting hard drive but will dectect usb drive

    I'm trying to Install windows vista (gateway installation disk) on my gateway lx6810-01. I think the problem is RAID because it dectects my old and new drive as well as my dvd/cd writer as RAID: (name here) and I tried removeing the bios battery and puting it back in and formatting it (using a ultimate bootible cd tool) but that didn't work either. The hard drive works because I install 2 types of Linux on it but windows won't detect it

    wait i think i formated it wrong i used dareks boot and nuck on the external hard drive and it dosent show up now.
