Unable to install hp 5524 printer

    Trying to install the (correct, from hp website) driver for an hp 5524 (wireless) printer on a Dell laptop (Vista Home 32 bit) for a neighbour.
    The printer installs fine on his Win 7 pc but, trying to install on the Vista laptop, the install stops every time with a request for either a CD or additional files which I don't have.
    Shouldn't it just install straightforwardly using the hp driver downloaded?
    Is there something / some action I'm missing?
    It is Vista compatible according to hp, so I'm guessing I'm missing something.
    Any advice welcomed!
