Transfering from XP hard drive to vista Hard drive

    The old XP machine fried the mother board but the hard drive survived. So I am trying to transfer files from the old hd to the new hd using the file transfer wizard. The old hd is connected using an external shell viaUSB. Upon the first attempt it copied everything on to it self. What I do wrong?
