Running Vista Home Premium x64 SP2.

This week an icon showed up in my task bar and I can't get rid of it, don't recall installing any programs to trigger this. Right click does nothing, Task manager(applications) doesn't show the program, so I can't end task, and I don't see any processes(unnecessary) that would be attached to this. When I Alt+Tab, it shows "Desktop" with a small window in the lower right hand corner.
I have attached a picture, if that helps.

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

Hmm, strange as it's not showing in Task Manager.

Do you have the options to "Close Window", when you right click on the Taskbar Icon?
Have you tried a reboot to flush out the glitch?

No change on reboot. Nothing happens(no options like "Close" etc.) when I right click that application on the task bar.
I'm running Malwarebytes now, then Kaspersky next just in case its a virus or malware.

Check for background applications that load during startup.

MSConfig or CCleaner will show a list of apps that load during startup. MSConfig will give options to disable them. CCleaner will give the option to remove them from startup as well as disable them.

Ran Malware Bytes and then Kaspersky. No viruses or malware found. Went to msconfig-Startup and disabled Java, Netextender, WPNSCFG, Apple Push, and PDANET. And it disappeared. So, looks like it was one of those. I will have to figure out which one later. I was just worried my machine was infected, but doesn't appear to be the case. Thanks for all you input.
