Soundmax integrated audio problem

    I used Windows Update to install the Vista-compatible driver for my integrated Soundmax audio. While the device works, any sounds that windows plays (ie, sign in, shutdown, error noises) are distorted. They play, but sound "warbley." At first I thought the problem was due to system resources being used, but the problem occurs even if CPU usage is very low.



    Has anyone experienced this problem/Does anyone know of a solution?
