I a work at a very small software company here in Mich and i have having issues installing our software on vista to beta test.

The installation script needs to install some DAO files to c:\program files\MS shared\DAO

I decided to see if it was a rights issue so I logged in with the administrator account and tried to delete one of these files.

I get a cryptic message about not having necessary rights

(There is security controling access to this file... you do not have sufficient permission.)

Any ideas on how to fix this particular problem?

Are you sure you are logging in under the administrator? Control Panel > User Accounts.

Is it possible that the file may be in use? Does it do the same thing after a restart?

As I understand it, You installed the files correctly to that directory and then when you go to delete them you cant?

Nope I cannot install files to this directory.

So to test to see if it is a rights issue I tried to delete the file.

Since the file will be overwritten the result is similar to deleting the file first and copying in a fresh file.

Yes I'm sure i'm logged in as the admin - I have experience with windows NT, 2000,XP...

    Thanks for your replies,

    Aran

    the full error message is:

There is security controlling access to this file. Please consult S-1-5-80-95600885-34185226-18338044-1853292631-227147846 for information on how to get sufficient access.

I have tried googling on the nice long string of number numbers it give no dice.

    anyone else have any ideas?
