    Hi,

for quite a while nowI am experiencing very slow mail uploads.

Theprogress barwindow simply creeps and can take several minutes to send a mail of 3Mb size.

Sometimes I get the error message 'the SMPT server is not responding'

Sometimes I get the 'Wait' prompt for another 60 seconds worth of creep!

I am using VistaSP1 and IE8, swiching to Firefox does not help.

Which email program? Your mention of IE and Firefox is confusing
since the email program covered by this newsgroup, Windows Mail,
    does not use a browser.

Sorry for the confusion Gary. I'll restate my case with more clarity.

MyOS is Vista with Service Pack 1,and I use the Windows Mail that is part of the Vista package.

For some considerable time now it has been taking longer and longer to upload emails, particularly if there is an attachment added to the outgoing mail item.Thisusually results in theError Message "Your SMTP server has failed to respond in 60 seconds. Would you like to wait another 60 seconds for the server to respond?

    Account: pop.ntlworld.com Server: smtp.ntlworld.com"

Is this common with Windows Mail? Is there any fix or tweak that could speed up the uploading?
