    Hello,

I'm a techneophyte who desperately seeks help to find SP1 in some format that may be run directly from USB flash drives. My ancient Sony VAIO PC was upgraded to Win 7 Pro years ago but had to go back to its preinstalled OS when it suddenly failed to bootup for weeks before then. I've learned you can't upgrade to Win 7 Pro again with no Vista SP. Also, CD-ROM drive doesn't work, so ISO can't be burned - just USB. What software is best option and Vista-compatible for this task? Where to download SP1 for Vista?

    Thanks in advance!

Windows Vista has 2 service packs - SP1 and SP2.
You need to install SP1 and do a restart before you can install SP2.

Why don't you download the ISO file for your version of Windows Vista which contains both service packs?
You can then use that ISO file to create bootable install media.

You can obtain the appropriate ISO file from HERE.
