    Hi,

How do I know which type of Hard Drive I can install into my PC?

I want to be able to add a second internal hard-drive myself for my work. I have done this in this past on my older machines but am unsure how to find out what type I need?!

Can someone help me out with this?

    Thanks in advance.

You need to open the case and see what you have.

IDE drives use a connector that has two rows of lots of little pins and a 4-lead power connector.

SATA drives use a connector that is a small flat piece of plastic with flat gold contacts on it and a very small (1/4 inch wide) power connector that also has gold contacts on it.

If you have a desktop PC, the motherboard may have connectors on it for both types.
