I recently attempted to reinstall the operating system but while I was doing this the battery in my lap top ran out in the middle of the operation. Now when I turn my computer on it keeps restarting and giving me a message saying that the system restarted unexpectedly and incounterd an unexpected error. I have tried puting the vista disc in and starting it off the disk, and although I hear the cd trying to run, it has no effect.

Is there a way to salvage my computer?

Did you go into the bios and set it to boot from disc first?
