    Hello,

I am repairing an HP m9500y PC, which has Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit. I would like to reinstall Vista without using the HP Recovery Image as I don't want all of the HP garbage that is installed with Vista.

I have an OEM Windows Vista x64 DVD. However, when I attempt to boot to the DVD, I get a BSoD saying "BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO".

    Any ideas?

You sure it's actually booting from the DVD and not from the hard drive?

This BSOD generally comes with a stop code of 74, indicating a memory hardware failure, inwhich case, you need to try the memtest option.

Are you sure the HP is capable of 64-bit OS?

Other than that, all I can suggest is reading our pinned post on troubleshooting STOP codes.
