reformat my hard drive

    hi,

    my computer is bogged down. I want to reformat and start all over gain. I don't have my my vista disks, but have my product key. Someone said you have vista on your recovery hard drive. Can format and will reinstall itself. If so, what is the proper steps to do this? I have a gateway computer. Your help is appreciasted.
