I have a lacie external usb hard drive which I used with a mac for time machine backups. I no longer have the mac and wish to reformat the drive for vista. At the moment it does not show up in my computer but does show up in device manager.

How do I reformat to FAT system?

    Thanks

Vista probably can't understand the filesystem at present, so it won't let you work with it.

Google for EASEUS Partition Master. It's a free download of a well-known partition management utility. You can probably use that to format the drive.

IF that doesn't work, you may have to connect the drive to a Mac and use that to remove the partition.

EASEUS Partition Master did the job.

    Thanks :)
