recovery not appearing on screen

    Hi

    I have a compaq sr5000 Vista pc which has just just crashed! It will not F8 load/run in safe mode/run in dos/run at all/ i have restore disks which i last used about 2 years ago and they worked fine. but now i cannot seem to recover the pc back to factory settings now. using F11 it loads the files and blue recovery screen appears with a white cursor and then nothing!!

    When i try to boot normal it gets as fas as the microsoft corporation loading screen the it drops to a black screen and nothing after that. any advice would be welcome.
