    Hi hewjr1000

Have you installed all of Windows Updates?

Are you sure that is Vista SP3?
I'm thinking the latest version is still SP2.
Can you type "Winver" in the run box, that will tell which version of Windows you have.

What happens if you try it with your anti-virus disabled?

How long has this been taking place?
Do you have a restore point where you can fall back to a point, before this problem started?

Actually this was a fresh install, using Microsoft Security Essentials for antivirus.

Install unfortunately was from Hp recovery dvd.
