I have an old HP laptop that runs Vista Ultimate (64-bit) in which the hard drive failed. I installed a replacement drive and tried to get back up using the HP system recovery disc that came with the laptop. After power on the CD drive runs and I get "Windows is loading files". When that finishes I get
    Windows failed to start
    File: \windows\system32\boot\winload.exe
    Status: 0xc0000001
Info: The selected entry could not be loaded because the application is missing or corrupt

The BIOS quick hard drive diagnostic passes. Does anyone know what I need to do to get Windows to run? Thanks.
