I am getting a dreaded device driver error nvlddmkm with Vista Premium and nVidia GeForce 7900 GS. I re-installed the newest and correct device driver for the GPU, and now Vista is just closing out the program (Oblivion). I am so ready to go back to XP.

Anyone have this problem or know of a fix?

That's nice, I see you were ignored.

This is a BIB BIG issue, read this and weep:

Without a fix, VISTA is totally unusable.

I am trying to edit DVDs but forget it; when this driver crashes, all my work is lost.

Plus it disrupts the encoding of video if I happen to get luck and actually get somewhere with a project.

Because my new PC came with VISTA, I was naturally

drawn to video software to worked with VISTA.

I bought ROXIO instead of NERO.

    ROXIO ended up really sucking!

Several hours of work was lost when the driver crashed.

VISTA had only been a headache for me and without a fix for this driver issue, it is completely worthless.

(The other VISTA forums are filled with people that had no trouble with XP but using the same hardware had this driver crash after installing VISTA.

    GOD HELP ME

Reason for lack of responce was the fact that there already is a topic about this issue and that it can only be cured by nvidia. The problem is driver related. Nvidia is the problem, not ms or vista. ATI dont seem to any issues with dx9 cards, and very few issues other than poor performance with its dx10 drivers in vista.
