My Vista Home version won't open/play dvds

    I've tried shutting down computer and restarting, but nothing seems to work.
    Won't open/play dvd I made of pictures from my old computer .....any ideas would be appreciated!

    Check the format of that pictures and check that the program that you are viewing them in supports the format.

    Also is it a laptop or a desktop and dose it play other media. Because if it dose not play other media than it might be the drive or the data cable or even the port that the data cable is connected to.

    Do you know what video codec is needed to play the DVD? Not all DVD's are created equal, you can create one with any of a half dozen different video codecs. WMP 11 installs with a minimum of codecs. Do a google for Vista Codecs. Latest version is v4.26. Install that, reboot, and see if WMP then plays your DVD.
