my laptop will not read my old cd's thinks its empty, will read DVD

    with XP was working fine reads CD's/DVD andburn CD's. after upgrade to ultimate Visa, read new CD and DVD's will burn CD's.

    but I get and other CD or my old CD's will not be recognised as data filled CD's. system thinks its a blank CD.

    drivers are all up to date from Toshiba.

    need help, please

    You can try going to Control Panel -> autoplay and playing around w/ those settings. I have a similiar problem on my laptop and to get by it I usually let Vista try and format the so called "blank disc" then it fails and I right click the drive and hit "Explore".
