Someone much smarter than I looked at my laptop and wanted to know where the switch was for the miniport that would allow me to hardwire the internet to my laptop, instead of automatically trying to gain wireless access (which has been malfunctioning recently). I want to connect to the router directly, but nothing is working. Is there a way to solve this? I hope what I'm typing makes sense. Thank you!

Simply plugging in the ethernet cable into the laptop should be enough for windows to recognise the connection.

There should be a button somewhere with a wireless sign to turn the wireless off manually but this isn't needed.

Can you provide the model of your laptop?
