Mouse and Keyboard Freeze w/ IE and Firefox

    HP m8120n Quad running Vista Home Premium . I only use this for photography and only go online for updates and occasionally to upload to my site. Flawless performance for years. Attempted to update my video driver and since then everything freezes if I go online (IE and Firefox). Not every time...but more often than not. It's an Nvidia I believe. I can check tomorrow. I have do do a hard restart every time, I usually use another computer to go online, but from time to time I gotta get this HP in the world to do some stuff.
    Any advice as to how to fix this? I know just enough to do some damage if I start messing about in ignorance,
