So for the low low price of $160 :w00t: I can get the student version of Microsoft Office Vista. This doesn't fit into my budget very well, as it shouldn't for any college student. I have office 2000, will that install and work on a vista OS? What other alternatives are there?

Office 2000 will work on vista like it did on XP just fine. Office 07 is worth an upgrade, its the first upgrade to office in a long time thats worth getting.

For $150, you can purchase a Home &Student version of Office 2007 that can legally be installed on three different computers. So, if you get a couple of other students to go in on the price, you can get it down to $50 for each person.
