    Greetings everyone,

I've been jumping around the Internetpostinginformation for those who may have experienced this following problem.

    History:

I was running Windows XP Professional, formatted my hard drive, installed Windows Vista Canidate Build 5600.

After various interesting experiences I decided to format my hard drive and reinstall Windows XP Professional.

    Symptoms:

Durring the install process of Windows XP at the "29 Minute" mark, I would be prompted to insert my Windows XP CD. This is the point at which Windows installs its own proprietary programs.

There may also be different symptoms for the same reason below.

    Reason:

Once installed, Windows Vista creates a differentboot recordthen Windows XP

    Resolve:

    1. Boot to your Windows XP CD

    2. At the welcome screen select "R" for repair consol

    3. Once at the command prompt type "fixmbr"

    4. You should be prompted with a message regarding the partition seems invalid and to confirm the repair.

    5. Select "y"

6.Reboot your computer and continue your install of Windows XP.

    Hopes this helps anyone.

    Cheers!
