So, finally spent some time looking for gadgets for the Vista sidebar. Unfortunately, when I switched users, the gadgets I installed for one user, were not available for the other.

Of course I could always install the gadgets again, but I was wondering if it is possible for two or more users to share a gadget (and still be able to customize it individually).

Basically, no. The gadget settings are stored in an .ini file. To allow sharing, there would have to be a way to control locking so that not only could multiple users share the same file in a single user's area, but that no two users could update the file at the same time.

So, as you have seen, if you have five user accounts, and you want them all to use the same gadget, you have to "install" it five times -- once for each user.
