I put an SD card into my SD card slot on my computer and nothing comes up. I cannot find it in My Computer or anywhere on the computer. What do I have to do?

I switched the lock knob and then it came up, but then it was write-protected. So then I unlocked it and it came back up, so I put something on it. Went back 5 minutes later to put something else on it and now it doesnt pop a folder up again. I lock it, nothing. I unlock it nothing. Does it just only bring a folder up when it feels like it? Someone please help me.

    similar driver problem ?

Im Having the same problem .

I Have Windows Vista Running on an Emachines computer.

It Shows My SD Card is plugged in under the COMPUTER window.
But when i click on the card it asks to insert a SD Card.
When i clearly have one plugged in.
I Might have uninstalled my SD card reader .
it is enabled. but i checked its location and the location says "0".
so i feel like i've uninstalled it.
the driver is "wdc wd5000aavs-14N7B0" .
if i can download this or a similar version anywhere it would help.

finally found someone with a similar question as me .

    With USB Reader
    1

Insert the SD card into the SD slot on the USB reader.
    2

Insert the opposite end into a USB port on your computer.
    3

Click on the desired option when a pop-up menu appears on the screen. Options include "Open folder to view files," "View pictures" and "Import pictures and videos," if not more. Each of these opens the SD card for you to view saved data.
    Without USB Reader
    1

Locate the SD slot on the computer. On a desktop computer, you will generally find the slot in the front of the tower; on a notebook, look on the side.
    2

Insert SD card directly into SD slot on your computer.
    3

Click on the desired option when a pop-up menu appears on the screen. Options include "Open folder to view files," "View pictures" and "Import pictures and videos," if not more. Each of these options opens the SD card for you to view saved data.
