It appears this problem in common. I connected my HP Pavilion Entertainment Notebook, Model dv5-1002nr (with Windows Vista), to my RCA LCD HDTV, Model L32HD31R, with an HDMI cable. Although the image from my computer transfers perfectly to my TV, I get no sound on my TV, despite going to the Sounds manager on my computer and setting HDMI as my default. I've tried doing this a variety of ways, turning both the computer and the TV on and off both before and after connecting and changing settings, all without success. Suggestions, please...

    hi Jeff...
i am new to this forum (2 minutes) and u are the 1st that i reply to....
could the cable (or the laptop or tv) be a bit old? (prior to hdmi 2.0, because older versions of hdmi do not/ partially( as much as i know) provide sound)
if the laptop and tv support hdmi 2.0 or newer then i am 99% sure it is the cable that is faulty
