File password protection

    hi



    i have tried searching the forum for a related topic, but i havent found any



    i was wondering if there is anyway to password protect files / folders on vista?



    if this requires software, or requires me to be linked elsewhere..

    could somebody email it to me

    Not aware of any way to password protect files or folders built into Vista.



    There are plenty of third-party products you can download, some of them free, that will do that.



    I don't email stuff to people; use Google with "password protect files Vista" and you get a slew of links to products that will do what you need.



    If you just want to prevent a file from being read, you can use the Encrypted File System (EFS) feature of Vista -- but you need a version "higher" than Home Premium -- Business or Ultimate.
