I have a desktop with Vista Ultimate and a laptop with windows xp professional. I am trying to sync a folder on my laptop. I have set up a shared network folder on the laptop and when I sync it copies files to the desktop and I can view them fine.

The trouble starts when I try to edit a file on the desktop then sync I get a a Access is Denied error when the file on the desktop tries to update the laptop.

Make sure the folder on the laptop in which contains the share has the proper rights, meaning make sure the user account in which you use on the laptop has ownership permissions. You may also be able to add the user account on your desktop by clicking "add" and Putting something like ComputerName/Username and hit "check names" see if it recognizes it. Replace ComputerName and Username w/ the corresponding ones for your desktop. I have not tried this in Vista so I can't tell you if it works or not for sure. Worth a shot.
