Internet has been intermittently slowing way down. To fix the problem I can reboot the router, or,... change from channel 1(2.8ghtz) to channel 2(5ghtz) and achieve 5 bars again. Then after a while, things will slow down again to 2 or 3 bars and I'll change back. I'm thinking my 6 month old router is bad.

I think if your router is bad, it will just cease to function, PERIOD. So my guess is, things are slowing down because you've got other customers on your network, trying to shove their signals through the same damned line that goes from the outside of your house, apartment building, or whatever to that exterior cable that runs off into the distance. Such is progress!

My suggestion is, if this is a once-a-day occurence, reconcile yourself to resetting your router daily. Maybe you can call your ISP provider and scream, but I don't know that this leads to anything useful. Maybe change ISPs, but I've my doubtst about that also. Long run -- and there IS a long run -- in 4 or 5 years processing speeds and connections will likely go up by a factor of 2 or 3 or 4, and you'll be happier for a while.

Until it just becomes terribly essential to you to download 15 GB movies in 30 seconds or so ....
