DLL error while installing Java?

    After playing Minecraft for about two months, Java started to go out on me. As soon as I launched the game, it would turn black, so I decided it was a problem with Java. I uninstalled the applet and tried to reinstall it, but every time, it came up with an error message saying:
    "Error 1723. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A DLL required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."
    How can I fix this?
