When attempting to use the Disk Manager to reset my drive designations (they changed for some reason and my machine recognizes my external drive with a different letter than what my applications are looking for) the letter F is not available to add. Why is this and what can I do?

    Thanks,
    Bg

At least from my experience, you're not forced into assigning letters in any particular sequence, and those NOT allowed are those that have already been assigned or reserved for some reason.

If you've got a bunch of drives (including external devices, card readers, USB hardware, and/or optical drives), I would not be surprised if "F" was already in use.

Other than that, I know of no reason why it would be reserved, and know of no way to "unreserve it" if it IS reserved.
