DEP keeps shutting down my messenger

    anybody know what i can do? am i doing anything wrong?

    it says windows has closed this program dep has shut it down.

    i found this problem too, the only way i could find of getting into messenger was to right click on the messenger icon, then select run as administrator.

    If DEP is turning causing Messenger to be shut down, you most probably have some add-on running that uses buffer overflows to execute code in memory that's marked as non-executable.

    Typically, buffer overflows are used by spyware and trojans to run on your system. If you have one of those evil programs like the ones from smileycentral, you don't know what other nasty programs come with them. If you have a clean install of Windows and Messenger, with no addons or plugins, you won't have DEP closing it for you.

    My advise is to try and uninstall any addins, although that may be problematic, as they don't uninstall willingly.
