    Machine - Dell Inspiron 1520

    OS - Vista Home Premium

Wireless device = Apple Airport Base Station (oldest model)

laptop will connect fine via dialup

laptop will connect fine to other wireless networks (at lunch today at Panera Bread)

Uninstalled Macafee as I heard that can block things

    turned off Microsoft firewall

it shows I am connected to the internet in "network and sharing center"

network is private and sharing/discover is on

When I open either IE or Firefox...it can't find any pages.

I had heard that it can be a problem with not pulling a DNS from the older hardware (airport) and there were some registry modifications that could be made. I made those...no dice.

Any other thoughts before I unplug the airport and go buy a new router?

I don't know much about the Airport but see if there is a setting for a DMZ and put your computer's IP address in there. Of course don't leave it there but just for troubleshooting purposes.

Open a command window and type "ipconfig /all". You will get a list of network adapters. The one connected to the net will have a list of DNS ip addresses at the bottom of its list. If you don't get those addresses, then do the following:

    -- type "ipconfig /release"

    -- type "ipconfig /renew"

After the command returns do the config /all again -- you should now see DNS IP addresses.
