    Hi,
I really messed up - I somehow lost all my documents and photos (that's a seperate issue) and while trying to recover the photos, I accidently recovered them to the desktop instead of a seperate drive. Now, because there are probably tens of thousand icons on my desktop in my main profile, I can't access it to delete them. All of my music - as well as many other downloads - are on my main profile.
My question is - is there any way to delete those desktop icons from another user's profile on my laptop?
    I appreciate any help.

    Jim

Hi jimyd0315 - Welcome to vistaforums

Load your applications from the Start Menu.

You can navigate to your Desktop using Explorer. This will allow you to scroll the entire listing on Desktop and move them to the appropriate location.

    Look in these locations
    • Windows XP
      • C:\Documents and Settings\<user login>\Desktop\
      • C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop\
    • Windows Vista
      • C:\Users\<user login>\Desktop\
      • C:\Users\Public\Desktop\
    • Windows 7
      • C:\Users\<user login>\Desktop\
      • C:\Users\Public\Desktop\

Thank you so much for your help. It took me a while but I was able to finally delete all the icons and gain access to my main profile.
I will post a new thread regarding the original issue.
    Thanks again!

I'm glad to see you have resolved your issue. :) I am always happy to help in any way I can.

There is no need in removing the thread. Someone else may have the same issue and reading your thread may help them.
