I got a new PC for Christmas, AMD Athlon x2 6000+ Geforce 8600 GT, 2 gigs of ram, etc. Since the beginning I've had problems with lots of different programs connecting to the internet. Programs like Steam, Battle.net, Ventrilo, and others. They seem to get stuck on the same message of "connecting" or "initiating connection" or something similar. I'm not running any firewalls or any anti-virus programs. I am connected with a router, a Linksys WRT54GS. I don't think it has do with the router since my old vista PC connected fine. Any help would be appreciated.

Can you connect at all? Or do you only have the problem when you run these other programs?

Only with the majority of programs. The regular internet works fine.

How are you connecting? Dial-up through a modem? High-speed through DSL? Direct connect through cable modem? Access through home router or access point?
