cds not working with vista

    Why are alot of cd's i made on win 98 not working on my vista system. Programs, games, etc. they will load and install but then they woulnt run. says not installed properlly to reinstall.

    You're asking three different questions.

    1) Win98-made CDs and Vista. Vista reads CDs just like any other Windows OS. There's no reason it can't read a CD made using an earlier OS.

    2) Older programs won't run. And you're surprised that a nearly 10-year old program doesn't run? You can try running these in compatibility mode and tweaking the settings there. Either you'll find a combination that works or you won't. If you don't, it won't run in Vista.

    3) Not properly installed. Most probably looking for a more current version of a DLL than the game installed. Again, compatibility mode is the only option you have.
