Don't use ANY registry cleaners. Have had too many bad experiences with them.

Don't understand all the obsession about cleaning the registry anyway. It's a collection of files that functions as a database -- which means it's only used when necessary.

Back in the days of little memory, slow processors, and small hard drives, it made sense to clean your system of any superfluous stuff -- to squeeze out every last bit of performance.

But, these days of 4GB (and MORE) memory, fast, 4-core (and MORE) processors, and multi-TB hard drives, the really miniscule performance gain from removing less than 1/10 of 1% of your used disk space is not work the risk of trashing your OS due to overaggressive registry key removal.

Any registry is only a "...collection of files that functions as a database -- which means it's only used when necessary."

My years of working with very large databases is to care for them and back them up always on a continuous basis
    :D

    Best to all, Dave

Ccleaner is best as it deletes the unwanted temporary data as it deletes in one go whereas otherwise we have to delete everything manually such as trash box history of explorers and all.

Howtogeek.com says ccleaner has a safe reg cleaner but if it isn't nessesary to use it don't! It could cause problems with programs on external drives that are not plugged in.

    I'm not sure...

CCleaner is obviously going to do little, but it does well.
If your PC came with bundleware (as all OEMs do) then it makes sense, or if you're properly clearing malware, but why use it other time?

PCs go slow if you have malware, something constantly running (like Chrome) or other things.

CCleaner is for more than registry fixing: it is named 'Crapware Cleaner' originally, for easy system optimisations.
I recommend you to run it once in a while.

WAW8: I see no performance gain at all, not one small amount. Defragmentation occasional times will help, however.
