I have Vista x64 installed, the only virus scanner I could find was avast but even that is not fully compatible..

Does anyone know of another free scanner that will work on the 64-bit version?

    TIA

I am using Trend-Micro(free trial)for Vista64 and it is fully compatible. For Vista32 I am using AVG Free edition. For XP-Pro I am using WindowsLive OneCare. Sometimes it's difficult to remember which hat to wear! LOL

I was using Norton AV and firewall before loading Vista RC1, NAV @ that time was inoperable with vista but they now havea version that works, BUT it don't includea firewall yet, which I need.

I tryed MS free trial verson (live onecare) it seemed to do a OK job.

At present time using Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security 14 that is free untill 31 Dec 06, I like it best of all so far, and thinking of buying after I load the full, payed for version sometime in Jan. I like the feature in security settings that allow you to input passwords and user names ets. that you dont want uploaded via the internet. Software will flip a warning and if you like, you can allow or disallowfor upload. I was supprised @ the sites that want your password and in my case by bank account password. BUT i wonder if this is a tool for marketing there products.

I've been using AVG 7.5 Free. I've always like AVG and the new version works in 64bit Vista as well. Avast is also good, but I'm partial to AVG becuase I've been using it for so long.

    :)

AVAST seems to have a lot of problem w/ vista RTM it was giving me all kinds of file permission problems. I'd wait on AVAST.

I liked AVG Free so much, I bought a 3 user license for AVG Internet Security 7.5 last year. Best purchase I've ever made!

AVG Internet Security 7.5 works just fine on RTM, however the Firewall does not as of yet (nor do most Firewalls).

I've been spending time learning the Windows Firewall. There's a lot to it to protect outbound, but I think it will be worth it in the end to learn it.

    Regards,

    Darian

While it's great that you're posting -- did you even bother to read the title of this thread? This is about the Beta for Vista -- has nothing at all to do with today's products.

Please don't bump an old thread just to post.

I use Cyberdefender for everything. I wouldn't trust my system to any other program.

I'm locking this post because, apparently, NO ONE can read the title and notice that it clearly says "Beta 2" in it!! We don't need anymore bumping of this post.
