I've just installed Beta 2 (5384) and I'm so far very happy with it. All of my hardware is fully functioning even with some of it using XP drivers.

I've installed the nVidia drivers 88.61 for my Geforce 6800GT w/ 256MB RAM. After enabling Aero, the graphics are terribly sluggish. I can't drag a window without it jumping around. My resolution is 1680x1050. Is there something I'm missing? I've checked the supported GPU lists and there's tons of cards slower than mine that support Aero. Is this just a stupid list of what will "work" but not what will perform well?

The rest of my rig is as follows:

    Gigabyte 8AENXP-D Board

    Intel Pentium 4 3.2Ghz w/ HT

    1.5GB DDR2 RAM

Have you tried the latest Beta 2 Drivers? I'm not sure what # they are but you can find them here:

    http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_downloads_rel70betadriver.html

    Just released May 23rd.

If that doesnt work you can try rolling back the driver and just using the one which Vista uses by default. Just allow vista to go search on the web for one, when hitting the "update driver" button.

I first tried Aero with the driver Vista used by default. I thought that nVidia's driver would be better, so I went and downloaded it. The one I used is from http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x86_88.61.html . The link you gave didn't have any video drivers, just chipset drivers.

I've had better luck with the default OS drivers for my 7800GT. The Forceware drivers out don't seem to work with 5384.

Using 88.61 also on 5384 and performance for windows is decent if not perfect. I do notice both cores showing alot of activity when moving windows around tho. See specs in sig for machine running this. Top rig in sig.
