I have a problem with Vista Ultimate. When explorer.exe crashes and restarts I lose some of the icons of running and minimized applications from systray (i.e. yahoo messenger or jdownloader). they are still running (i see them in processes in task manager) but cant switch to them. I tried starting them again and setting icons for those apps to always show, but it didnt work. Is there any way to switch to those running apps?

Since Windows Explorer is the runtime interface to the apps, it most probably only know about apps that are launched after it starts. When it crashes and you restart it, the apps are already running, so it doesn't know about them.

The bigger problem is the Windows Explorer crashing. We have a pinned post in the forum for troubleshooting that problem.
