Message keep disappearing in newsgroups in winmail. I'll be reading a message
& it will disappear. I'll have a scroll bar with lots of messages to read &
all of a sudden no scroll bar & only a couple of message available to read.
What the heck is going on???
This just stared happening today.

Any chance you have 'View|Current View|Hide Read (or Ignored) messages'
selected?

got it set to show all messages. I unsubscribed & then subscribed.Messages
appear &
when I try to read all messages but a few disappear.I can reset message come
back.I then switch to a different newsgroup then go back messages are gone
again.
Is there a tool or something I can use to repair winmail? I have run chkdsk
& sfc. Nothing fixes this problem so far. This appears to only happen in
Microsoft.public.windows.vista.general newsgroup. The other newsgroup seems
to be fine.......very wierd

I'm using avg.
I think what is happening is:
when I go into the newsgroup some "new" messages appear. I can tell they are
new by date & time.I then read each message (only3) so it does not take long.
When i'm finished reading I switch to a different newsgroup then switch back
messages are gone. It's like it's hiding the messages I read. It seems to be
stuck in Hide mode. I have it set to "show all messages" How can I reset this
feature?Selecting show all messages does not seem to do anything.

Make sure AVG is not scanning messages.

Also, there is a possibility your news account is corrupted.
Delete that news account, restart WLM, then recreate the account.

Hi Gary
avg is not set to scan e-mail.I had avg running for months same with news no
problems til today.I tried deleting news account & adding again, this did not
help. I found a restore point from yesterday & used that to fix it. It worked
news is now working again. This was very annonying problem that just occured
today.Somehow something got corrupted in winmail news.
all I did today was somebrowsing & e-mail & news.I think there is a bug
somewhere in the news reader in winmail.
Thanks everyone for your responces. I wish I could have found & fixed
it,instead of using system restore to go back a day.

Some have reported here that AVG can cause problems with
Windows Mail unless during the installation one selects the custom
install option where you can unselect installation of the mail scanning
module. For this reason I recommend Avast antivirus rather than AVG.
