Vista virtual USB printer port issues

I have an old laser printer that still works just fine except that it
uses a parallel cable.

I got an adaptor cable from micro innovations and their support is
useless.

The virtual port loads find (although there are extra copies now that I
can't delete) and sometimes it prints

MOST of the time, however, it won't print

if it prints some of the time there HAS to be a fix? Right?

Thanks for any help!

If you have a desktop computer, purchase a parallel port PCI card. I just
bought a Rosewill 2-port card for a client from NewEgg.com and it was
around $15.00. Much better solution than an adapter.
