Hi there,

got a problem, the ATI drivers (latest aswell as previous versions) both crash my ATI x1800xt card.

currently running vista home premium and every time I play a game CSS COD2 Quake etc the driver atifacts, stops responding then restarts, when I roll back to the stock microsoft driver everything runs fine.

I would like the catalyst to be fixed so I can run my TV out from my card.

Can anyone help?

Thanks, Peter

Did you upgrade from the old to the new version of Catalyst (v7.5)? I've found that while the upgrading may appear to work, it actually doesn't. I uninstall the old version, reboot, and then install the new version.

Regarding the TV-out, there have been lots of complaints from people with All-in-One cards and lack of Vista support, as well. Looks like AMD/ATI is not interested in providing full support under Vista for their cards.

Yep, make sure you uninstall everything ATI before you try installing it again. You only have an issue when you're playing a game right? I'm guessing you're using the driver off the ATI site? Might want to check if you have the latest version, just in case the issue is something that's been resolved with a newer version.

FYI, I had the same problem but the whole thing disappeared with upgrading the vista drivers to 7.6. I know how frustrating it is; Often i would turn my back on my computer only to turn back around and see it rebooting. Took me a while to narrow down the problem to the video drivers. I am pretty sure that Catalyst 7.6 has fixed the issue, but just to be safe make sure you have all the current updates for Vista as well.

Its a known problem that certain catalyst versions wreak havoc on certain systems (mine included) the latest releases have all worked fine.
