Uninstall problem - uninstall not recognized by system

I recently uninstalled a program in order to install a new version. The old
version no longer shows up in my programs list (from the start button & then
programs). However it still shows up on the Control panel page used to
install or uninstall programs. When I try to install the new version of the
program I want - a drop down box appears stating that the old version still
exists and must be uninstalled in Windows Control panel. When I then go to
the control panel to try to uninstall for the second time I receive the
error message ""The specified module could not be found". So it seems that
the first uninstall did indeed uninstall the program - but it still shows up
on the control panel. Any ideas??

That's probably a Windows Installer error, I suspect the uninstall didn't
run correctly and damaged the installation. I think this utility will help:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility

The utility does NOT uninstall the program, it it removes all installation
records from Windows Installer so that a program can be re-installed to fix
the damage, then uninstalled correctly.
